Aerocharger Liquid to Air Cooled Snowmobile Turbo Kit

Posted By: admin on Oct 31, 2008

Over the past 7-8 years the snowmobile industries outlook on the Turbo market has really changed. Not that turbos on sleds were a new idea. Many riders before 2000 were using turbos to help increase the power of the stock snowmobile to King of the Hill. Shortly after 2001 with the introduction of the Yamaha RX1 the Turbo market really boosted. The amount of power that was being tapped from the 4-stroke snowmobiles with turbos was reaching the 400 horsepower range. It wasn’t long before they broke the 400hp with Yamaha Propane Turbos getting 420hp with about 26lbs of boost.

Even though the 4-stroke sleds have been dominate with turbos the riders that are stuck on the 2-stroke sleds that market has really started to pick up as well. More and more companies are making turbos for Polaris, Arctic Cat and Ski-Doo sleds. Just watch some of the new Snowmobile Videos this year and you will see Turbo RMK 700 Dragons, Turbo Arctic Cat M8′s and M1000′s all over the videos tearing it up.

Aerocharger in conjunction with Fire n Ice has come out with a turbo that will take this market to the next level. Before this turbo the ones used on snowmobiles use an Air to Air cooling system and others us a Liquid to Air intercooler that also tapped into the engine cooling system for the snowmobile. This new Liquid to Air Cooled Turbo has it’s own separate cooling from the engine. This system allows the engine to run cooler as well as the turbo increasing performance by 40%. With their current test sled they are experiencing a 40 horsepower gain over the competitor turbos on the same models. Fire n Ice has yet released all details on there revolutionary turbo. The price for the kit is currently not available and we weren’t able to verify availability but you had better bet on the fact that these will be hard to come by. We will be working with Fire n Ice to help keep you informed of the progress of their new Liquid Cooled Snowmobile Turbo Kit.
